Here, we introduce the FAQ Sleipnir 2 for Windows.
This can not be resolved, please use the "Sleipnir online database" and "Sleipnir User Community".
Opening / Closing
I can not run Sleipnir
Please try the process below.
- Close the Sleipnir process manually from Windows Task Manager
There is a possibility that manually closing Sleipnir in the task manager will solve the problem if Sleipnir had been used previously, but not closed properly. However, please be aware that by closing Sleipnir like this, there is a possibility that settings etc. may not be saved properly.
- Right click the task bar, and select [Task Manager].
- Select the [Process] tab.
- Select [Sleipnir.exe] from the Image Name column, and click [End Process].
- Start Sleipnir.
- Open Sleipnir without restoring previously used web pages
There is a possibility that starting Sleipnir without restoring web pages will solve the problem when loading of certain web pages are not successful, and running processes are not correctly executed.
[Installer Version]
Select [All Programs / Fenrir & Co / Sleipnir / Maintenance / Sleipnir (Open without restoring tabs)].
[Archive Version]
- Open
\settings\caches. - Delete [LastSession.ffg].
- Select [Sleipnir.exe] from the Image Name column, and click [End Process].
- Start Sleipnir.
[Other]
If [End running processes if the CTRL key is being pressed during operation] has been checked) start Sleipnir while pressing the [Ctrl] key.
- Update Installed Plug-ins to the latest versions
There is a possibility that updating installed plug-ins to the latest versions will solve the problem.
[Installer Version]
- Select [All Programs / Fenrir & Co / Sleipnir / Maintenance / Restore Sleipnir] from the Start Menu.
- Select [Plug-ins] from [Tools].
- Check [Display Pre-installed Plug-ins].
- Click [Confirm Update].
- Select the plug-in with the latest update, and click [Update].
- Click [Restart].
[Archive Version]
- Select [Set File Name and Execute] from the Start Menu.
- "Insert <Sleipnir Installation Folder>\bin\Sleipnir.exe" -safe-mode and click [OK].
- Select [Plug-ins] from [Tools].
- Check [Display Pre-installed Plug-ins].
- Click [Confirm Update].
- Select the plug-in with the latest update, and click [Update].
- Click [Restart].
- Perform a clean installation of Sleipnir
* We recommend that you make a back-up of the saved settings folder before performing this operation.

If you are using Sleipnir with Windows XP account with restrictions, after uninstalling, confirm whether there is a settings file remaining in the restricted account, and delete if it is still there.
- If during the uninstallation a [Keep Sleipnir Settings File? (My Favourites and Customized Contents)] dialogue is displayed, please select [No].
- If during the uninstallation a [Keep Sleipnir Settings File? (My Favourites and Customized Contents)] dialogue is not displayed, please manually delete the Sleipnir settings file after the uninstallation has been completed.
- Reinstall Sleipnir.
Display
I could not connect to the internet
There is a possibility that the firewall you are using is blocking Sleipnir.
Please check your firewall settings.
If your firewall settings displays that Sleipnir is not being blocked, please try the following method.
Check [Connect Using Internet Options] from [Proxy] in the Menu Bar.
A run term error occurred.
Run time errors occur when there has been a problem when loading a web page.
It is possible to remove run time errors by using the following process.
- Select [Tools] and then [Internet Options] from the Menu Bar.
- Select Detailed Settings.
- Check [Do Not Use Script Debugging].
- Remove the check from [Display Notifications About Each Script Error].
- Click [OK].
- Check [Restrict Unnecessary Dialogue Boxes] from [Security] in the Menu Bar.
Can not view web pages that use JavaScript
You can view web pages that use JavaScript by the following process.

- Open the web page that uses JavaScript.
- Check [Security by Each Tab / Allow JavaScript] from [Security] in the Menu Bar.
Favourites
I want to restore My Favourites
You can restore My Favourites when using Sleipnir 2x, by the following process.
As it is necessary to close Sleipnir beforehand, it is recommended to make a print out.
[Windows Vista / 7]
- Close Sleipnir. (If possible, restart windows and make sure Sleipnir is not running.)
- Copy and make a back up of the following folder to Windows desktop or to an external memory device.
<sleipnir Installation Folder>\settings\<User Name> - Confirm that Sleipnir is closed.
Open the task manager and make sure the application and Sleipnir.exe process are not running.) - Open C:\Users\
\AppData\Roaming\Fenrir & Co\Sleipnir\backup - Change the names of the newly dated back-up files to [Favorite.ffv],[FavoriteGroup.ffg].(The back-up files are generated with the names [
.ffv](My Favourites),[ .ffg](My Favourites Group). - Copy the files that you changed the names for in step 5[Favorite.ffv],[FavoriteGroup.ffg], and paste in to C:\Users\
\AppData\Roaming\Fenrir & Co\Sleipnir. - Start Sleipnir.
If
* If the back up file does not exist, please input [*.ffv] in the Windows Start Menu Search Box and perform a file search.
If an ffv file is found, please try using that file.
[Windows 98 / 98SE / Me / 2000 / XP]
- Close Sleipnir.

Failed to add to favourites
There is a possibility that one of the following factors caused the problem.
- The saved favourites file[Favorite.ffv] is selected as read only.
- The saved favourites file[Favorite.ffv] is selected as read only.
[Windows Vista / 7]
- Close Sleipnir.
- Open C:\Users\
\AppData\Roaming\Fenrir & Co\Sleipnir - Right click [Favorite.ffv] and select [Properties].
- Select [General] Tabs.
- Remove check from [Ready Only]
- Click [OK].
[Windows 98 / 98SE / Me / 2000 / XP]
- Select [Set File Name and Execute] from the Start Menu.
- Open

- Select [General] Tabs.
- Remove check from [Ready Only]
- Click [OK].
- Do not have permission to read and write to My Favourites Destination File
Please reinstall Sleipnir to a folder with read and write permission, using the following process.
When necessary, please uninstall your current version of Sleipnir before executing the following process. If you wish to transfer your current Sleipnir settings, please make a back-up of the saved settings file, and then transfer the settings to the new installation of Sleipnir.
- Download the installation version of Sleipnir.
- Execute [sleipnir2xx.exe], and follow the installer until you reach [Set Up Types].
- Right click [Favorite.ffv] and select [Properties].
- Select [Custom Install] at [Set Up Types].
- Select a folder at [Installation Destination Folder Selection] that currently logged-in users can write to.
- Follow the installer directions until the end.
* If the [Welcome to Slepnir] dialogue is displayed when starting Sleipnir, please select the save location of settings as [Program Folder (Multi User, Manager Permission Necessary)(*) Recommended].
Installation/Uninstallation
Can not perform an overwrite installation
An overwrite installation can not be performed when Sleipnir is in use.
Please close Sleipnir, and then perform the overwrite installation.
What should I do if I can't install Adobe Flash Player?
By the default setting, Sleipnir does not allow you to download ActiveX control because for security reasons.
- Change the security setting and install
- The saved favourites file[Favorite.ffv] is selected as read only.
- Open the webpage which tries to install ActiveX.
- Right click on the quick security on the status bar and turn on "Allow download ActiveX".
- Click on the information bar and select Install ActiveX control.
- Change the security setting and install
- Open the webpage which tries to install ActiveX.
- Click the icon on the address bar to run Internet Explorer.
- Install ActiveX control via Internet Explorer.
Tabs
Tabs are opening by themselves.
There is a possibility that tabs are appearing to open by themselves when refreshing a webpage in navigation lock mode because each content(frame) is being displayed using seperate webpages.It is possible to avoid this situation by changing the settings to open subframes in the same window or by releasing the navigation lock, using the method below.
- Set so the sub frame opens in the same window.
- Select [Sleipnir Options/User Interface/Window] from [Tools] in the Menu Bar.
- Check [Sub frames upen in the same window].
- Click [OK].
* Effective for Sleipnir 2.7.2 and future releases.

Double click the tab when in the navigation lock state.
